She was 84 when she met Him!

She was 84 when she met Him!

Some say, she was 84 years old, while some others say that she was a widow for 84 years. But there are a couple of things that cannot be debated on. She was old! Very old! And secondly, no one can argue against what she has been doing all these years. For the Bible says, she did not depart from the temple, worshiping with fasting and prayer night and day. Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the warrior of faith – Anna, the Prophetess!

Anna was the most vulnerable in the worldly realm considering a woman to be alone for so many years without a support. But she was a giant when it came to the spiritual realm. Her circumstances failed in front of her love for God. Her persistence for HIS presence took HIM to where she was.

While the world looked at her as a woman who had lost no hope in life, she clearly had sorted her priorities. She waited on the promise of the Lord. Her hope was the redemption of Israel.

Consider the circumstances of that era: It has been a long time since God had spoken to HIS people. Promises were now just an old fairy tale. Intellect took over the spirit and made it difficult to believe that Messiah will come. Atrocities in the name of religion and law increased day by day with no one to rescue. Rulers were cruel and exploited commoners. There was nothing around her that could prove that God heard prayers or that HE would fight for HIS people. But this didn’t stop her from praying, fasting and believing in God’s promises.

There is lot to learn from Anna. Here are a few that you should ponder on:

1) Trust the silence of God
Anna knew that HE who said to her forefathers that I AM who I AM is all powerful, even if HE is silent. She knew Israel had gone through 430 years of silence, but that was followed by victory. She knew it all and she believed it all. She lived by the definition of faith in the practical sense. HE may not be audible when you want to hear. HE may not display some wondrous act when you want to see. But HE is in love with you and HE neither sleeps nor slumbers as HE watches over you all the time.

2) Persistence is the key to HIS presence.
Deer pants for water till he dies or till the thirst dies. So the thirst for HIM cannot be momentary. It’s a part of who you are. As long as you are alive be persistent for HIS presence. Be Desperate. The result of Anna’s persistence was awe-inspiring. The Creator of whole wide universe ensured that she saw the outcome to her persistence! She saw HIM. She saw the answers of her prayers. Eight-four years of waiting, 84 years of tears, 84 years of believing against all odds; and finally! Finally, there she sees! Her Redeemer, The lover of her soul!

3) It’s all about HIM
Anna prayed for the Redemption of Israel. She prayed for a nation. She for sure had hundreds of her own needs, but Bible says she prayed for Israel. HE made you for HIM. Period. Our missions in life have to be aligned to heavenly agendas. Every worldly thing we gain is temporary. This world is not our home. We are heading to our eternal heavenly abode. And as we align ourselves to heavenly agendas, we store up treasures for our heavenly home.

Are there any more lessons that you learnt from this anointed old woman? If so, share in the comments section below. We’d love to hear from you.

      Hi Niksa,
Here’s a verse from the Scripture for your encouragement:
But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. ( Isaiah 40:31)
